I'm on a pay monthly plan and not due for an upgrade until Jan 2022 but my phone is broken, the power button on the side keeps falling out and my screen is cracked - yes I dropped it! I don't know if I should just buy the same handset again (cos I like what I already have) unlocked so I can use it with my SIM (if that would work? I don't know) or find out how to get my phone repaired but that'd mean not having a phone at all for days or even a week or two and it's past the 12 month warranty. Has anyone else been in this situation? And if so what did you do?

@MiniPeeps Warranty will not fix a broken screen even if it was still within that period that’s what phone insurance is for. If you purchase a unlocked phone it’ll work with your EE sim. What phone is it ?

Hi @Chris_B thanks for replying. My phone is a Moto G8 and I'm happy with it just wish I hadn't dropped it on the hard pavement. If I can use my sim in an unlocked handset I'll look around for another one and this time be more careful, maybe get a screen protector or something!

@MiniPeeps A phone case is also highly recommend. Even cheap ones offer some sort of protection.
i’ve just had a quick look online and you’re probably find it cheaper to buy a new Moto G8 then get the screen repaired unless you think you can repair it yourself in which case you’ll save money but Argos have got the G8 lite for £100 and the standard G8 for £180.
A 3rd party repair shop will probably do it cheaper but these might not be genuine parts.
