Apple Watch Cellular, bought from apple

Afternoon,
Long story short, I was bought a series 4 cellular direct from the apple about 18 months ago. At the time I was locked into a Three deal (who don’t support Apple Watch).

Anyhow, I moved to EE last week on a phone contract (sim only) for a couple of reasons (1 - being that EE is a supported carrier).

Been on with EE yesterday, spoken to an agent on live chat and then the supervisor who have informed me that I can only add my Apple Watch to the EE network if I bought the Apple Watch from EE.

This sounds ludicrous!! Why would apple advertise EE as a supported carrier on their website.

Anyone out there got a view? Anyone got any similar pain stories to share.

@Batts7  You can use a Apple Watch when purchased from Apple and you set this up on the watch app on your iPhone,  it’ll cost you £7 per month on a 30 day rolling contract and you’ll get 10Gb of data per month.   Yet again EE customer services don’t know what they are talking about as they assume you have to get it from EE instead of actually fining out this information.    And you’ve been able to do this since the Apple Watch series 3 was launched.  There is even a how to on this forum please see HERE. the prices you see on that thread are the old prices not the current price to please ignore them as they are incorrect now.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Total rubbish what you have been told by customer service/Live Chat.

I have in the past had a cellular plan on my Apple Watch. My Apple Watch was purchased from Apple. I was also on a sim only plan for the iPhone.

When I had a few teething problems getting the cellular plan activated initially, I was given the below number. From what I can remember it gets you through to the dedicated Apple Watch team. Hopefully you will get through to someone with more knowledge.

0800 079 5330

Thanks for the swift response, i’ve got the transcript from the live chat and it’s laughable!! I’ve only been with EE 4 days!!

which brings me to the next bit...! I can’t set up the plan on my Apple Watch (via Watch app) as there is an issue with the ‘myEE’ app that won’t be fixed until 18 August.

when I try and load via Watch app, I get a message saying that I don’t have the correct active plan.

seamless so far!!!! 🤨

Give the number I mentioned in my last post a call. They got my cellular plan up and running in no time 🙂

Gave the number you provided a call and spoke to a very helpful person in Tech support.  It seems that setting up the watch plan in the background isn’t the preferred method, apparently can have issues down the line - thus, i need to wait until the EE app issue is fixed on 18th August.

The agent, knocked £7 off my next bill and gave me her email address, so i can email her on 18th August, for a call back to sort.

As everyone had confirmed (and in-line with what I thought), you can pair a third party Apple Watch to EE - I was given duff information by the 2 agents on live chat!!!

Fingers crossed it gets sorted in next 2 weeks

Thanks all
