I have problems getting Wifi around my house as it has solid stone internal walls. I have tried powerline but get poor results. Can I use a mesh system with the 4GEE huawei router?

Hi @neil684 ,

Just as a sanity check, what model of powerline adapter do you have?

This will allow a double check that data is actual transmitted along powerlines as some people mistake WiFi repeaters for powerline adapters just because both types of devices can plug directly into power sockets.

Hi,

I have a Devolo Duo and two Devolo dLAN 500. My 4GEE router, Huawei B525, gives 20-30 Mbps up and down wireless measured on my iPhone with Ookla. However from the powerline I get 1-2 Mbps down but 20Mbps up.

Devolo tech help suggested I had an interference problem but I don’t see why it would affect down only.

Hi @neil684 ,

It does seem like you've done your homework so would be justified in considering another solution.

If you don't already use the Devolo Cockpit software, that may be something to consider to check the link speed and update firmware but it's likely the support people have taken you through this already.

One sanity check would be to try two Devolo devices in the same room to see if the weirdness is still present.

At the moment I can achieve 130 Mbps down (limited by 4G LTE on Netgear MR1100) using Devolo Magic-2 between two ring mains and linking at ~1200 Mbps. I can understand that based in your current experience that you would be fully justified in trying something else.

One other play is to relocate the 4GEE device to the other end of the Devolo link to see which direction is slow. Depends how much appetite you have for debugging.
