Resolved! have I got this wrong - wifi hotspot

I recently purchased the total iPhone package and I am sure when I was researching my choices I read that my purchase would also give me access to 150,000 wifi hotspots. So far I have been unable to log on to any such hotspots. Have I got this wrong?
