replacement iphone 15 with sim: not working

i wonder if anyone can advise me on this: i transferred all data & apps from a backup made on my damaged handset onto new handset -- i hadnt realized that the iphone 15 doesnt have a physical sim card until i was doing this -- it now seems i should have got some kind of qr code or authorization from carrier [ee] to allow the esim to function from my new handset; bottom line: i cannot make/receive any calls/messages -- not even 150 to sim: 'call failed' -- doesnt even ring. anyone help? thanks

@mpb_62  Only the US version doesn’t have a physical sim slot.    There is a small hole on the side of the device that you push the sim pin tool into to open the sim slot.  It’s in the left hand side.
