iPad Pro M4 using e-Sim and not physical Sim

Hi folks,

Thinking about upgrading to an M4 iPad Pro but I’m reading it only has an E-Sim, and no physical slot

When we go on holiday in our caravan, I sometimes swap my old iPad physical card out and install into the WiFi Router (so all my family can use my data). Now if I purchase the M4, does this mean my UK EE physical card is made redundant, and my plan transferred over to the E-Sim?

So in theory upgrading to the M4 is pointless in my scenario? Or if I tell provider, they can somehow mirror the card so I can still use the physical?

I most certainly do not want to take out 2 x plans, one for the caravan and one as my e-sim plan…. I would like to hope there is a work around? Thanks

Thanks

Hello @Leebroath

Welcome to the community.

It is not possible to have a physical SIM and an e-SIM active for the same number, it would need to be one or the other.

Hi Katie

Thank you for the reply

May I ask if there is a workaround for this sort of scenario?

I would be as well scrapping the Caravan Maxview router and installing Starlink instead

I need to be able to use a Physical Sim card in the Router to allow the Wifi to work for the family, and also be able to upgrade to an E-Sim iPad...

Is there no Dual Sim solutions, or what other methods can you suggest?

Hi @Leebroath

This iPad is not compatible with physical SIMs so there would be no option for a work around.
