are new phones locked in 24 months contract period?

I wanted to buy new iPhone on 24 months contract but i was wondering whether it will be locked to just EE sim during this period or not?

@hassan1433 : No, all phones sold today are sold unlocked.

Does that mean only phones that are purchased are unlocked or is that contarct phones to ?
