I have a sim only plan with an iPhone and I’m thinking of buying an Apple Watch (cellular). Can I share my existing sim only plan or do I need purchase a new Watch plan in addition? If I purchase the Watch through EE for a monthly £18/£20 (4gb data) as a ‘paired plan’ does that replace my sim only plan or is that in addition to my existing plan?
It all seems very complicated… it might just be easier to buy a gps watch and pair it with my iPhone?

@cawood59 it’s in addition to your Sim only plan, the watch is a separate device that needs a cellular connection and you have to pay for that connection with that connection you get four Gb of data just for the watch and the watch will use your call and text allowance from the sim only as it’s linked at account level to receive/make calls/texts.

Ah OK... that makes sense. Thanks

Hi @cawood59
“It all seems very complicated… it might just be easier to buy a gps watch and pair it with my iPhone”
Exactly what I have. The watch (Apple Watch 9 45mm) connects over WiFi too, in addition to the Bluetooth (iPhone 13) and GPS connections, and as I always have both phone and watch together with me it works well.
Worth considering.

I guess I was kind of hoping I could share the data on the Sim only plan too as I have way too much.

I know what you mean, but as I’m always wearing the watch and always have my phone with me, I’m always “sharing” data and calls anyway - it’s just doing it via Bluetooth.
Unless there’s a use case I’m just not seeing, I’ve never understood the need for a cellwatch with its own internet connection.
They must sell some, so what do I know 🤷🏼

@Minkey1 Ever gone out for a run and want to listen to music ? Perhaps tracks your route or even just the possibility of being able to make calls or send a text without having to carry your phone with you is the point of a cellular watch. there are times when having a phone in your pocket isn’t ideal

No.

@Minkey1 So your saying a cellular watch it’s within “your “needs. Don’t get me wrong people’s needs/requirements are different and what’s ideal for some isn’t the same as everyone else. I’ve had many none cellular watches and at present only 1 cellular watch and my phone is always with me.

Indeed. That’s *exactly* what I’m saying, and said ⬆️
