Text messages not working

Hi

I’m having problems sending text messages to non iPhone users. Most of my messages go as iMessage but on the rare occasion when I try to send a text to a non iPhone user, there is a delay of a few minutes and I get a “ cannot deliver’ message. The send messages as text is switched on in settings. Am I missing something? Thank you

I'd love to try and help get your texts working. Can I just check, are these all texts all of the time, or do some go through intermittently?

Thank you for responding. Yes, it's all text messages to non iPhones (which go through as iMessages) that fail to send. I wondered if the message centre number is correct , but not sure how to check/change this. Alternatively, maybe text message sending has never been set up since I transferred from 02 to EE?

@Barryuk At the top of the message conversation does it show Text Message SMS or Text Message RCS? 

Are you able to receive texts OK from the effected numbers? 

To check the message centre number try opening the phone app, dialling  *#5005*7672# then call and the current message centre number should be displayed.
 

The correct message centre number is +447958879879

@Barryuk  If you go to settings >apps>phone is your number shown correctly in my number ?  If it’s not turn off iMessage and FaceTime and restart the device and check your number again if it’s now correct you can switch back on iMessage and FaceTime.

I too cannot send messages to non-iphones. I have spent 2 hours in total on the phone with EE, who finally admitted that there is an error with their capping system. It thinks I have reached my cap limit which they agree I have not, and therefore refuses any more messages. They say it was made known to them in December, but clearly, they don't check this group. 

Anyway, I have lodged a formal complaint because they are in breach of contract by not providing a full service and they threatened me with draconian charges if I went elsewhere. They are now in the 28-day period they have to fix their issue or it's off to the Ombudsman.

Dreadful service.
