Sony PSP hotspot connection to I Phone 16

Hi all, I have been trying to connect my Sony PSP to my I phones  Mobile Hotspot unsuccessfully. The network is picked up when searched for on the PSP and shows connection briefly on the I Phone before failing. as anybody experienced the same issue and if so did they manage to get a resolution. My sons Google phone connects with no issues. Thanks in advance

Thanks for coming to the community. 

Can you connect to the Mobile Hotspot on the iPhone with any other device? 

The If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) Apple Support page has steps to try if this is not working. Could you give this a go and try connecting the Sony PSP again?

Hi Leanne,  thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, the iPhone connects seamlessly to my speaker system, tv and car. I have tried connecting the wife’s IPhone and my IPad all to no success. I will visit the Apple support page as suggested. Thanks again 😀

Hi, 

The PSP uses an older standard WiFi several decades old.

If you go to Settings/Personal Hotspot/ and switch on Maximum Compatibility it will increase the reliability of the connection. But that older type of connection is more picky than recent standards.
