New iPhone 13 set-up

Bathparent
Explorer

I've just received a new iPhone 13 and have followed the set-up instructions. However, while I can use my passcode to access the phone, it appears to be stuck on 'Software Update', an icon for Apple Inc342MB, then 'Download and Install' with a spinning icon next to it. It's been like this overnight and not moving on.

The phone is connected to my wi-fe and a power source.

Any ideas, please, why it is taking so long?

Thanks

Hello @Bathparent

Welcome to the community.

Have you tried doing a soft reset of the device?

You can do this by following these steps:

Pressing and releasing the volume up button > Press and release the volume down button > Press and hold the side button until the screen turns off.

Hi Katie

Thank you for your reply. I've carried out a soft reset and  much the same thing has happened again.

While my old phone has 'Finish on New iPhone - Keep this iPhone near your new iPhone while your information is transferred' with a rotating icon below, the new iPhone 13 appears stuck, with 'Reconnecting' on the screen and a rotating icon above.

Experienced the same thing on my 16 Pro.   I only transferred the eSIM once my new phone was running properly.

If you're transferring from an old iPhone, make sure the old device is on ios 18. Couldn't complete a transfer on to one of the new ones recently until I updated the old handset
