I’ve been informed by EE that I won’t be needing a new SIM although I’ll be upgrading to a 5G phone. Won’t I need a 5G SIM?

No.  But if you want, you could always just move it to eSim, that way you won't have to worry about the plastic sim at all.  Once you have the new phone, you can do it via the myEE app.  Put your old sim in the new device, then follow the instructions on the app to transfer over to an eSim.  Alternatively, if you're passing an EE store, you could pop in and ask them for an eSim pack.

I thought the eSIM was for the US market only for now? It’s what was promoted when the new iPhone was released.

No, we've had eSim quite some time now.  It's great, means you can pop a local sim in the physical card slot if you go on holiday.

@abishop  it’s only US iPhones that are only eSim. In the UK you can still have both.
