Hi. I have always been able to set my own voicemail for my business or when I go on holiday, but in the last few days it has been knocked out and even when I access it and confirm that it is on it does not work. Instead callers get an american voice telling them to leave a message, which then appears transcribed in a text. I have tried to contact EE, but to no avail and was met with shrugs at the local EE shop. My wife who has an I Phone has got the same problem. Any ideas ?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @JOHN0021
@Ali_A has provided instructions on how to switch off the "Take a Message" feature on a Google Pixel phone which resolves the issue that @Mark1217 has been experiencing.

I had noticed this happening on a family member's phone and have concluded that Google must have automatically enabled this in a Pixel software update.
You've said you have an Android device, but is that a Google Pixel device? If so, follow the steps above and it will resolve it for you.
If it is happening on your wife's iPhone then this is unlikely to be the same problem as that in the post. On an iPhone it could possibly be the Live Voicemail feature explained here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/105066
If none of the above works and you can provide more detail we can help you to figure out the issue.

Hi Mark. I have the same problem with my Android and my wife has with her I Phone. Pulling my hair out trying to get my business e-mail back and working and no-one seems to know what to do. Did you have any success ?
Thanks, Vince

That sounds more like a landline. Is that what you are referring to?

A perfect example of why posting in multiple threads with the same issue, is a bad idea sooner or later! (Edit: Threads merged)

It's called Live Voicemail on iPhone, sort of works alongside Visual Voicemail. Settings > Phone > Live Voicemail to disable
