Hi Bristolian, I'm in a similar predicament. My new HMD Skyline 5g doesn't drop to 4g when 4g is available, it perseveres with 5g even though it shows on a coverage map not available indoors here, often stalling during a video or stopping altogether. My 4g didn't do that, but it's old now, hence the " later" replacement. Can I switch the 5g off and only use 4g?

HI @Findingfred
To change the 5G network mode on the HMD Skyline, navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Preferred network type.
Here, you can select your desired network preference, such as 4G.
Does this help?

The option of deciding Preferred network type isn't available.
I have found that settings / battery/ saver mode and battery super saver mode does put the phone to only use 4g very odd but does work

@Findingfred
Some firmware versions no longer have the option it seems.
Although it's not the ideal solution, it's great you've found an alternative way to switch off 5G on your device!
The 5G chip can use more power, which is why devices switch this off during power-saving mode.
