Hi,

I need to get a smartphone so that i can verify my Linkedin Account. (i have a smartphone but its 8 years old and cant download the linkedin App and its not with a contract, i just use it with my EE mobile router)

I also already have a "dumphone" and  mobile router account with EE.

If i just buy the cheapest smartphone i can find, then would EE be able to get me a phone contract for that?, or do you have to buy a smartphone "with" a phone contract?

And would i just be able to log in a smartphone to my EE mobile router and download the Linkedin App like that?...ie, without even having to buy a smartphone contract?

There's not really any such thing as a "smartphone contract", EE sell airtime contracts that come with a bundle of voice calls, texts & data allowance. And unless you're taking a SIM-only plan, then you choose a phone with that contract.

All you need do is source a smartphone of your choice, and put your existing SIM into it. Or just use the phone on a WiFi connection, which doesn't use the mobile network, and thus doesn't need a SIM.

All the SIM does is allow access to the mobile network.

Thanks,  please may i ask, is there any way of knowing which of the smartphones available for purchase  will allow me to verify my identity on Linkedin?

I think they need an NFC chip reader for the passport and a camera, and ability to download the linkedin App. Do you know how i could find the cheapest smartphone that could do that?

As discussed, ny smartphone is 8 years old and is Samsung JM-330FN and i just get the  message like "not able to download the App with this version" (Linkedin App)

Hi @treez

Thanks for coming to our community.

You can see our range of SIM Free phones here SIM Free Phones | Unlocked Mobile Phones | EE.

If you know the software the phone needs to work with LinkedIn, you can check that in the description.
