I'm on Android, my nephew has an iPhone. He receives texts from other iPhone and Android users without issue. He can also text me, but I can not text him at all. I immediately get a notification saying "couldn't send message". My partner (same business contract, but different phone) is also able to message him without issue.
I've tried deleting and reentering the number, no change. I can what's app him without issue.
Any ideas are very welcome x

WhatsApp is just an internet-based app, and has no bearing on this. If you can use the app, that proves your phone has a working internet connection - but any further tests are irrelevant.
Are you texting your nephew using an existing conversation window? Can you call your nephew? When did this problem start - have you been able to text your nephew previously?

Thanks for replying. I only mention what's app to confirm I am messaging the correct number as I appreciate this is usually the first thing customer services will suggest you check.
I've tried a new conversation window as well as replying to his messages without success. This.is his first phone, and this has only ever happened with his number, so no unfortunately he's received messages from everyone other than me.

Can you call your nephew? That's a more reliable test of the correct number and also proves that network routing is in-place.

Perhaps clutching at straws, but could your nephew have inadvertently blocked your number and thus stopping you from texting him?
And have you been able to text him previously?
Not sure where the blocked contacts/numbers section is on Android, but might be worth getting him to look and see if he has inadvertently blocked your number.

No, mum double checked that straight away, and even got me to text his number whilst she had the phone to ensure it wasn't on do not disturb etc. He has an iphone, its me with the Samsung. My partner who is on the same business contract as me.has an iPhone and messages him without issue, but other family with androids are also able to message him without problems so it's just my phone that won't send them to him

Thought I would be clutching at straws. I hope you can get to the bottom of it and get it sorted out.

Yes, no issue with calls, just texting is the issue.

Your ability to call your nephew, proves the lack of blocking & presence of network routing.
This should be reported to EE CS, potentially for a faults investigation to be opened.
Similar symptoms can sometimes happen when a new number ranges is issued.
