I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A54. I activated visual voicemail by texting VISUAL to 150 as per the instructions, and got a text back after a while confirming it's ready to use. But I still can't toggle the visual voicemail setting on in the phone app (I use Google Phone). My software is up to date (in fact, it updated to the latest OneUI 8.5 last night) and I've restarted the phone, but no joy. Still can't turn the feature on. 🤔

Try restarting your device.
It can take 24 hours to activate but on my Samsung it was a few minutes.

I did restart after receiving the confirmation text (which arrived about 10 hours after the VISUAL request).
I'll wait a bit more and see.

Try texting visual to 150 again.
This is odd. Try clearing Google phone cache. It might only work on the Samsung call app.

I deactivated and reactivated the voicemail, also (as suggested by AI) with wifi turned off, cleared phone app cache, restarted etc - the setting still refuses to turn on. Looks like something is stuck at EE's end. I could call customer service but can't really be bothered, I only wanted to test the visual voicemail, but shame it doesn't seem to work out of the box as it should.

Strangely, the Samsung Call app doesn't seem to have a visual voicemail option at all in the voicemail settings.

Try texting 'Visual ON' to 150 and see if that activates it. Then once you have the message back to say its either already activated or now activated, check the 'Visual Voicemail' setting with the Phone App. See below:
