Hi there

I have an Android head unit for my car which has 4G internet. Ive put a 4G data only card in and it registers and picks up a strong 4G signal, but when I try and use any apps or Chrome i cant connect to the internet. Via Chrome I get the following error - DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG. No stand along apps such as Google Maps work

I know the SIM works as i use it with a Mifi dongle. Ive updated the APN settings as per the below.

Name: EE internet
APN: everywhere
Proxy: Not Required
Port: Not Required
Username: eesecure
Password: secure
Server: Not Required
MMSChttp://mms/

MMS proxy: 149.254.201.135
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 30
Authentication type: Not Required or just use the default value shown.

Ive checked all the other settings, turned airplane mode on/off, data on/off, reset network settings etc

Here are the band tables for the Android unit

GSM: 850 / 900 / 1800
EVDO: BC0
WCDMA: B1, B5, B8
TD-SCDMA: B34, B39
FDD-LTE: B1, B3, B5, B7, B8
TDD-LTE: B38, B39, B40, B41

Any help much appreciated.

Strange that the Vodafone SIM worked immediately without any config. I updated the APN settings on the EE SIM as per customer support but still no joy.

Its an Avin head unit, like this. Running Android 11 with 6GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor

https://avinusa.com/12-30-multimedia-navigation-system-for-bmw-x3-x4-series-f25-f26-2011-2016-cic-nb...

Its effectively an Android generic tablet stuffed into an aftermarket car head unit

Hi I have pretty much exactly the same issue.

The only difference is it’s on Three not EE

I went into a Three shop saying it seems like DNS and they thought it was the phone and fobbed me off even though I was showing how it wasn’t working in person

I’ve rang Three support and they say all setting are perfectly correct and then pass to me second line and the call goes dead about 10 minutes later

Please can you let me know any solution you may have had and I would be extremely grateful as it’s beyond frustrating - I explain to Three it’s a DNS issue and they must think I’m talking jibberish…

If not, my plan is to wait until my 24 month contract expires then buy the same contract again on a new separate SIM and then transfer my current number to it, but that’s in about 8 months…

I hope this helps or if you can help me, please?
