discovery+ app changes September 2025

With discovey+ changing this week most platforms  will receive new versions of its app/player. This looks like it will require a new version to be loaded , a fresh acceptance of t&c's cookies etc  and a new signon (using your existing logon credentials).  I presume in the case of the (Youview) EETV Box Pro/Mini the loading of the new version will be automatically handled via youview. On other devices you may need to authortize the upload of a new version.

If you use discovery+ (for example for TNT Sports etc) you may wish to check/get the latest version installed ahead of when your next use it may take a couple of minutes or so to the above.

I don't know if EETV has any easy route of providing feedback to WBD but currently the picture  tiles used for UHD 4K  streams don't have UHD showing on the picture tile itself  rather you have  select i(nfo) for each of the similar images to find which is the 4K stream. Also whereas on the old platform a Search for "UHD" would list available ondemand UHD catchup that particular search doesn't find them.

There are several benefits in the new version  so does seem an improvement.

The switch happened at 11:30pm last night.

We're assured that new sign-ons aren't required - it should be seamless (otherwise it would have created a HUGE impact on us, from customers who have forgotten their details).

The new app is already there on TV Boxes, and available on all other platforms.

You're best to raise feedback directly to them.

According to discovery+ themselves

discovery+ app update

We updated the discovery+ app for an enhanced streaming experience, including a new sign-in, navigation, and player experience.

Starting 23 September, the discovery+ app will automatically update or prompt you to update it on your device.

That said on some devices updated  a  signon prompt was there on others no new signon was needed.

I needed to sign back in but there was a QR code on screen and I use googles own password manager on my Android phone, so I was able to retrieve my password that way and log back in successfully.

It looks like they have started adding UHD to the relevant tiles. The Liverpool Everton derby from last week has it, and the Chelsea Benfica Champions League game upcoming next week has it. Inconsistent at the moment, let's hope it improves over time.

Didn't have to sign back in but had to re-add to the watchlist again

My discovery+ account was deleted sometime between 23rd September to 25th September (not by me).

With that being said, I access discovery+ (TNT Sports) as an Inclusive Extra as part of EE.

Would it be possible for EE to de-activate then re-activate Discovery+ so I can create a new login and link so to speak?

Appreciate it

It would be beneficial if the discovery+ subscriptions provided with EETV packages were consistently named.

eg with  the discovery+ app an discovery+ TNT Sports & Entertainment billed through BT seems to be called

d+ MVPD premium ad-lite + sport (Monthly)

If the app were to be believed I have 2 subs (which I most definitely don't seeing as I'm only being charged for one). Mine also says "billed through BT" when I'm actuaaly an EE customer. That d+MVPD...... wording is bizarre and also appears on my D+ apps (EE box , Apple TV , Rolu).
