Hi all,
I know this has been mentioned other places but I don’t think I’ve actually seen a response, or solution to removing it… the permanent white watermark on ALL Sky or Now TV channels when watching on Apple TV.
Aside from screen burn in, it’s become a bone of contention in my house and doesn’t seem to have any function than to annoy my other half.
Anyone have any insight into why us EE Apple TV converts have been lumbered with it, or when it’ll be disappearing?
It’s taken the shine off the switch, to be honest!
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

I'm told that other non-Sky platforms do also include similar DOGs. What they choose to do with their content on their platform/app is their choice. It makes no difference though - they've mandated it for us, therefore we have to do it.
This isn't something that is ever likely to be added as a warning to prospective customers - DOGs have existed on all sports channels on BT TV / BT Sport / EE TV for very many years, and very few people have considered them important enough to comment.
When watching sport at the pub, the pint glass has been near the bottom right corner for at least 20 years ...

I’ve not seen it on other platforms, but will take your word for it.
Appreciate it’s been mandated by Sky but it’s annoying as hell on darker content. Live sport is one thing, but on channels that show programmes you want to enjoy at their best, when you’ve paid extra for their ‘Boost’, just feels poor.
Sky’s own DOGs are dynamic, fading out after 10 seconds, with a clear purpose of identifying the channel - a permanent solid white dice, with no apparent relevance to the channel or content just isn’t the same.
There must be other ways that Sky can be protecting their content, hopefully this is something that EE/Now TV will work with them on in the future.
Perhaps you could pass on a suggestion? If it has to be there, could it be a more relevant image, like a logo? It’d still keep its purpose but look more the ‘pint glass’ equivalent and DOGs we’re used to… less like a technical glitch!
Do you know if this will mean the icon will come off non-Sky channels like MTV, Gold and Comedy Central completely too?

Yes, the dice will come off those other channels. It'll be moved and lightened on the other channels.

Any idea when this will happen @DarrenDev - Still seems to be present on all channels

I've checked with the team - work is due to start on updating channels this week. The first of the changes is expected to be visible on Wednesday.

Great to see this has now been implemented.
As mentioned, it is still visible on some Sky channels but no longer looks like a dice.
What would we call this? A target, a dot, a point?
It’s certainly less intrusive than its predecessor, and looks to have some degree of transparency.
We’ll see if this passes ‘the other half’ test!
