Trying to set reminder - launches the App!!

Hi, I'm just getting used to my new EE TV Box Pro and seeing what features it has and how they work. I have setup my box to work off an aerial, I tried Internet but found too many of the channels I like were missing. Aerial also gives me the added feature of being able to record several channels at the same time, even if I am watching something else. I'm getting my signal from Sandy transmitter in East Anglia and the box says Signal Level is 100% and Signal Quality is 100%

I am currently trying to set reminders for programs that I want to remember to watch later on. I'm doing this by viewing the guide,  selected a program (say 9pm tonight on ITV1) and clicking OK, but it just keeps launching the ITVX App. I've tried several different channels and several different programs either later today or tomorrow etc. but most just keep launching the relevant channel's App. One or two have worked and put up the "bell" icon in the guide but there doesn't appear to be any consistency in what it is doing.

Can anyone offer any thoughts or advice? Am I doing something wrong or is this some sort of bug in the firmware?

Thanks in anticipation for any comments...

regards

PhilipJ

Hi @philipj451  in the guide (EPG)  it identifies whether a (future) scheduled program is already available to watch on demand  so if this is the case you see a play button symbol  and  you pressing OK  lauches the relevant app (in your example ITVX)  to play that programme.  If a future scheduled programme is not yet available on demand  no play button appears in the guide entry and pressing OK will set a reminder.

Pressing the i(nfo) button  for a future  EPG programme would normally give you an option to  set a reminder  , watch the proramme on demand (if it is available) , and search for the programme across EETV and the (Youview)  app,

The OK button is a response to the highligted option  so the result you get from pressing it will vary.

OK, I've discovered that if I press 'i' (for information) on the program there is an option in the presented box to "Set a Reminder" but why isn't this consistent with other channels where just pressing OK sets the reminder?

I can accept that this App feature might be useful for some who want to watch a future program now but it does lead to confusion when you don't have a consistent operation across all the channels.

thanks

Looking at EETV documentation

https://deviceguides.ee.co.uk/ee/tv-box-pro-proprietary-os/functions/creating-tv-programme-reminder/

It does seem that it needs expanding.

Hi, thank you for your reply(s).

Yes, I figured it out once I noticed the "play" icon was on some items in the guide but not all, and that indicated that the highlighted program could be played now via the streaming if required.

Personally, I think it's perhaps the wrong way round, I would mostly be doing this while watching some other program and I've thought "Oo I must remember "xxx" that comes on at 9pm" and it's a bit irritating that I get hauled off into an App when all I wanted was to set a reminder. I will just have to train myself to press 'i' instead of OK 🙂

thanks
