I don’t think there’s any official way. We don’t own the boxes so dismantling them to remove the drive to copy off (even if that was technically feasible) isn’t an option. Perhaps it’s possible to play a recording and pass the output over HDMI to some sort of external device to record in real time, but I know of nothing in that line.

Can I ask, why do you want to to this? Has the old box failed? If so, have EE said you can keep it?

Even if you take the disc out of a YouView box, you can only copy SD material. HD material is encrypted, and will only play on the box it was recorded on.

And no legitimate device will allow you to copy from the HDMI Out of a YouView box, even if it is still working.

Of course, there are illegitimate devices, but you won’t find them in Curry’s.

I have converted from HDMI to Component Video, and got analogue 1080p to use with a Slingbox (a legitimate use, but not supported in the digital domain)
