Too Many Boxes

Hi,

Can somebody please help.  I am getting the error message that we have too many TV boxes connected to our broadband.  We only have 1 x Pro Box and 1 x Mini Box. Just moved over from BT to EE.  It has worked fine since installation in the first week of September, and now comes up with this error. (BTP-16500, IPC6007).

I cannot play Freeview channels like ITV or BBC, let alone the TV package I am paying for?

Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Angus

Just press OK on the message to transfer the subscription to this box.  It should only do this a maximum of 2 times, just to make your 2 boxes as the main 2.  I've verified that your account has the correct 2 box subscription it, so it won't show again after that (unless you factory reset them, at which point it'll just again once more).

Hi Angus,

Press the Home button on EETV remote control,Select Apps and choose EETV App and wait to load then click on setting on top right hand and then choose the option EE reset Data player and then follow these steps on both Probox and Minibox.

It will fix the issue.

Hi Darren, I have pressed it once so far and it has cured the problem.  I 'm not sure if the wife had pressed it previously but so far for me just the once.  Thank you very much for the help.

All good at the moment.

Hi Austin,

It's working with Darren's suggestion at the moment so all good.  Thanks for posting and I'll keep this in mind in case there could be other issues.

Thank you very much

Sorry Quick Question, does it matter which box you do first if I have the issue again. Pro or Mini first?

Hi,

Sorry for late reply it doesn't matter whether you do it in Probox or Minibox first.

@Austin12 the only way to even reach that settings screen would be to accept the box transfer warning first.  That setting has nothing to do with too many boxes.

@gusfielden it doesn't matter which order.  There's also no limit on how many times you can do it, so if you need to factory reset a box for any reason, you can do it again without worrying.

Hi DarrenDev,

EE sent 2 TV Box Pro boxes. I spoke with the EE guides who say I can use these for my 2 Box subscription. However, I'm up to 5 'make this the primary box' actions on each.

I can watch HD channels on both at the same time after doing this. It seems to happen when switching the first Box on after both being on standby overnight. Sometimes it's on first channel change of the day.

Any advice? Thanks.

You aren’t supposed to have two Box Pros, but that’s a commercial decision not a technical one, so they should work together perfectly well.

However, it sounds like EETV haven’t set up Multiroom properly for you, so you need to get onto 150 and request this be set up if it’s not present, or fixed if they think it is.
