Talking Pictures TV

I am dismayed to find that TPTV isn't available on EE/BT TV, although it is on Virgin, SkyFreeview and Freesat. Are there any plans to make this popular channel available?

@borobob   You don’t seem to understand EE can not put a channel on the box without the content creator’s permission.     But that actually harsh reality is,  don’t seem to understand that the content creator and you view ( the company that actually manages the box ). Are the once who are responsible for what can be on the box.      

You don’t care about what’s actually legal and you seem to think just because what one provider has something all should have it.   To have access to what you want a legal agreement has to be made.   No legal agreement and you air something without permission ( this includes TV channels) that’s called privacy and legal rights have been violated). Are you going to pay compensation on EEs behalf.    

And I’m gonna say it, you’re very ageist are you.   It’s not about what “ the older generation wants”. Because younger generations are with Sky or Virgin,  EE TV isn’t aimed at the older generations it’s aimed at all from young to old.

And EE are not alone. Freely is the only streaming service that Talking Pictures TV is part of. Sky Glass and Stream (Sky's IPTV platform) don't have it only their satellite service does.

There are a number of similar posts over on the sky community, therefore it seems that the channel operator are unable or unwilling to make the necessary arrangements to be included on these EPGs.

@borobob  Sky and Virgin have it because the creator ( owners of the channel) have a legal agreement with them to allow them to broadcast it.     No agreement and you can’t broadcast a channel, it’s called piracy which it’s looked on to fondly and leads to fines.

@borobob   Because they have a legal agreement to broadcast it with the provider of it.    Have you not read anything above.     You can’t legally broadcast programs without a legal agreement with the providers of that channel,     It’s not the same law via a TV aerial as it’s been broadcast for the TV aerial to pick it up and via IP it’s streaming and you need a legal agreement to stream content.   Virgin have an agreement to stream the content of that channel.

I know what you say. So EE are not prepared to sign agreement.

That's understood, but not the reason why the channel was not worth getting
an agreement as per Virgin. Thought BT/EE would have more resources.

Just agree to say it's not worth it for some reason and we have the option
to go elsewhere for Talking Pictures with ENCORE.

It is important because government ministers are discussing whether to
continue support for aerial transmission and Freeview.

looking at Wikipedia at the dates Talking Pictures first became available on various platforms 

Talking Pictures TV was initially only available via digital satellite on the Sky platform in the United Kingdom and Ireland.^[2] Since 15 September 2015, the channel has also been available on Freeview. It became available on Freesat channel 306 in February 2016,^[1] and on Virgin Media on 1 June 2017.

EETV didn’t introduce Ip mode on the Box Pro until some years later, before that the EETV legacy  BT TV boxes used aerial mode so a Freeview signal supplied the FreetoAir channels and IP only used for subscription channels. So at the time those other platforms were first reaching commercial agreements with TPTV , there would have been no reason to negotiate with EETV (or BTTV as it was then) .

Legend Xtra was added earlier this year as a free to air channel in IP mode and Talking Pictures was only just added to Freely in November. 

U have struck a deal with Samsung for their free to air channels to be shown on Samsung TV plus in exchange for Samsung promoting more of the U content so sometimes it's a deal that benefits both providers. 

The PSBs are doubling down on Freely so eventually the Freeview channels on the pro box won't be available so let's live in hope that more deals may be done sooner rather than later.

@Weerab2024  I believe the intention of Samsung   TV Plus and UKTV U is that

Later this year U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W and U&eden will all be delivered to Samsung TV viewers via a deep link from Samsung’s Universal Guide into the U app.

So the streaming of those channels would be via the U app.

That suggests to me that the U app will itself have the ability to stream live channels on some platforms later this year.
