This post will be updated as more questions/issues arise.

If your specific issue isn't covered here, then please start a new conversation

1. EE Mobile

If you used (or activated) the discovery+ app previously:

Your login to the HBO Max app is the same as it was for the discovery+ app - same email address, same password. If it doesn't work then please launch the discovery+ app now and confirm the email address you used - it may be different to what you remember. If you can't log in with your password, then try the option to send a one-time code instead.

If you haven't previously activated your discovery+ subscription:

Activate your HBO Max account now

If it tells you that you cannot watch TNT Sports as it's not part of your package:

Check again - is it definitely the correct email address you're using? Could you have used another? If you're sure, then you'll need to contact the EE Mobile helpdesk. They will need to cancel your add-on and enable it again to allow you to activate HBO Max again.

If you want to watch other content on HBO Max:

Subscriptions from EE Mobile ONLY provide access to TNT Sports - nothing else is available from EE. If you want to upgrade your subscription to include other content from HBO Max, then log into https://hbomax.com from a web browser - you CANNOT do it from the app. Select your avatar in the top right corner, then the Subscription menu. You'll see an option to get more content - this will be a payment directly from you to HBO Max, and isn't part of your EE subscription.

If you have a Sky subscription that includes access to HBO Max:

You can merge both accounts into a single login. When activating your Sky subscription, be sure to use the same email address as your EE account - both subscriptions can be used with the same login.
If you've already activated your Sky account with a different email address then you'll need to contact the EE Mobile helpdesk. They will need to cancel your add-on and enable it again to allow you to activate HBO Max again with the other email address.

2. EE TV (BT or EE Broadband)

If TNT Sports is part of your package AND you've previously activated discovery+:

Your login to the HBO Max app is the same as it was for the discovery+ app - same email address, same password. If it doesn't work then please launch the discovery+ app now and confirm the email address you used - it may be different to what you remember. If you can't log in with your password, then try the option to send a one-time code instead.

If TNT Sports is part of your package and you HAVEN'T previously activated your discovery+ subscription:

Activate your HBO Max account now:

BT Broadband customers: https://www.bt.com/mybt and select Your Products, TV and Sport

EE Broadband customers: https://id.ee.co.uk/ and select Plans & Subscriptions

If you're an Entertainment subscriber:

Now TV is the recommended app for watching HBO Max entertainment content. Almost all content is available in the Now TV app, and you'll get the best experience there.

If you want to use HBO Max anyway, then you'll need to ask Now TV to provide you with an activation link.  You can do this as follows:

  1. Open https://www.nowtv.com/gb/help
  2. Click 'Need Help' in the bottom right corner
  3. Select 'TV'
  4. Select 'Entertainment & HBO Max' Membership
  5. Select 'Yes' if you have an Entertainment, Big Entertainment or Full Works subscription, or a Now Entertainment & HBO Max extra on your account
  6. Select 'I'm an EE TV customer'
  7. Select 'Link my account so I can watch in the HBO Max app'
  8. IMPORTANT: Select whether you have Now Entertainment & HBO Max as part of your TV package or as add-on/extra
  9. Click 'Link Now account'
  10. HBO Max web page opens
  11. Log in to HBO Max (IMPORTANT: If you have a TNT Sports subscription, make sure to use the email you use to access this in Discovery+ or HBO)
  12. You can now use your HBO Max Basic with Ads subscription across devices in your HBO Max account

If it tells you that you cannot watch content that you think should be included in your package:

Check again - is it definitely the correct email address you're using? Could you have used another? If you're sure, then please email eetvsupport@ee.co.uk with your BT or EE account number. Include a message describing the issue you're having.

If you want to upgrade your HBO Max package:

If you want to upgrade your subscription to content from HBO Max that isn't part of your EE TV subscription, then log into https://hbomax.com from a web browser - you CANNOT do it from the app.

If you've already activated your Sky account with a different email address then email eetvsupport@ee.co.uk with your BT or EE account number, saying that you'd like to reactivate your HBO Max account with a different email address.

3. Sport on BT Broadband

Activate your HBO Max account now by visiting https://www.bt.com/activate-tnt-sports

If it tells you that you cannot watch TNT Sports as it's not part of your package:

Check again - is it definitely the correct email address you're using? Could you have used another? If you're sure, then please email eetvsupport@ee.co.uk with your BT account number and subscription type. Include a message describing the issue you're having.

If you want to watch other content on HBO Max:

Sport subscriptions on BT Broadband ONLY provide access to TNT Sports - nothing else is available from BT. If you want to upgrade your subscription to include other content from HBO Max, then log into https://hbomax.com from a web browser - you CANNOT do it from the app. Select your avatar in the top right corner, then the Subscription menu. How is it possible to view in D Vision if that is the case? Frankly the UHD is pretty rubbish in term of quality in comparison to other UHD content on streaming apps.

It’s lying to us.  It’s HDR10 on TNT Sports Ultimate not DV as advertised very unusual to have Dolby Vision on live events.  Looks fine to me on my system UHD HDR10.  Still better than the HLG offered by Sky Sports.

How odd. Maybe fully paid subscribers get it via EE TV?

Also, on my TV it looks okay via the HBO app but isn't close to Sky Q UHD / HDR football.

Some tips if you are like me, an EE TV (TNT Sport) and Broadband customer that also has access to HBO Max Entertainment & Movies via Sky, and go through the re-activation process described to link both into one.

  1. Use a laptop or desktop if possible, I tried on my iPad and couldn't get the link to load in a new tab
  2. You need to login to your EE account and click on Plans & Subscriptions followed by  Manage TV & Sport to see the link to click
  3. Triple check you are activating HBO Max (TNT Sports) via EE using exactly the same email as you used to create your login via Sky (I didn't = mistake number 1 😳)
  4. If you have already asked for a reset and changed the email incorrectly (as above), and then ask for another reset, before you click on the refreshed link make sure you have logged out of HBO Max on the device you are using (I didn't = mistake number 2 😞).

If you don't, it automatically activates under the same email as before... 😭

I'm too embarrassed to ask @DarrenDev  to reset it a 3rd time, hopefully the above helps someone not be as stupid as me! 🤣

Hi @DarrenDev i followed the steps to link my TNT sport HBO max account to NOW to access entertainment, I didn’t realise I was logged into my father in laws HBO max account and it’s linked to that one, it didn’t ask me to confirm it just did it.

I can’t find any way to unlink it, NOW have been useless on chat, he already has full HBO max and doesn’t need my NOW on his subscription, can you help me fix this please?

I cannot see or change the link between Now TV and HBO Max @JP087 , but I can cancel your Now TV subscription and create it again.  I assume that cancelling the Now TV would also then cancel the HBO Max activation, but I couldn't say for sure, or say how long it would take for the system to update.

If you want to try it, email me at eetvsupport@ee.co.uk

Watching TNT sports in HD or UHD on laptop.

I fall in the above category No. 2. EE tv and previously activated Discovery +

Using the EE tv website and downloading the player does not give TNT sports in HD and UHD.

The tv listing is greyed out for the TNT HD and UHD channels.

Go to HBO Max website.

Login using previous discovery + details.

Can now watch TNT sports HD/UHD through their online player.

UHD isn't available on the EE TV apps or web - only on the set top box, or via the HBO Max apps/web.

If you select the TNT Sports channels in the EE TV apps or on the web site, it'll automatically play "up to HD" if your subscription, device, and connection supports it.

Seems the key thing here for me was that it is not the HBO Max app, you need the Now TV app.

@Boyed if it's TNT Sports you're after, then it needs to be the HBO Max app.  If it's the HBO Max entertainment content, then yes - the Now TV app is generally the better option (with a few exceptions).  HBO Max is always there as an alternative if you want to try it though.
