TNT Sports is moving to HBO Max

JordanTA
EE Knowledge Specialist

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have announced changes to how customers access some of their content.

What’s changing?

HBO Max app launches on 26 March 2026.

  • On 26 March, WBD will launch the HBO Max app
  • On the same date, TNT Sports will move from discovery+ to HBO Max

What this means for EE customers

EE customers will retain the ability to watch TNT Sports. App content will now be housed in the HBO Max app rather than the discovery+ app.

EE TV customers can continue to watch TNT Sports TV channels via the TV guide as usual, and if they have a TV box Pro, Edge, or Apple TV 4K, the HBO Max app will be available on those devices from 26th March 2026 (Apple TV 4K customers will need to download the HBO Max app).

See our help page for further information.

I'd wait until after the app launches before being sure it isn't on your TV.

@ABC1231231 the HBO Max app launches TOMORROW.  If your TV supports the discovery+ app today, then the HBO Max app will be available to install tomorrow.

I currently have access to TNT Sports and Discovery+ Entertainment content via My EE mobile plan add-on.

Whilst I appreciate that access to Discovery+ Entertainment content has never explicitly been promised by EE as part of this mobile plan add-on, it's just nicely happened to come along with the TNT Sports access, it is somewhat disappointing to learn now that...

  • Access to the entertainment side of things via HBO Max (or Discovery+) is no longer going to be available as part of this add-on; it is now sport only
  • I can't even subscribe separately (or upgrade etc) to HBO Max's entertainment offering alongside this TNT Sports access, using my own email address, as EE already uses it for TNT

I currently have the Full Works plan and previously had Discovery plus and TNT Sports included with my plan. I do not have EETV.

On installing the HBO Max app, I only have access to TNT Sports, and not the remaining HBO entertainment and movies. This was not what was confirmed to me previously and it looks like it's going to cost me up to another £14.99 a month to obtain this when it looks like that if you subscribe to TNT Sports, you will get the HBO premium package. Please can someone confirm if this is correct or is it just a bug that will be sorted out. Thanks

@Craig1805 you say you don't have EE TV, but say you have Full Works - this is an EE TV package.  What subscription do you have?

Is this an EE Mobile Full Works plan you have?

If so, the TNT Sports subscription (both the Inclusive Extra and paid add-on) has been updated as below:

@DarrenDev I just have the mobile plan which includes the entertainment packages which has included the Discovery + and TNT Sports subscription. It's now become apparent that I will only have TNT Sports via the HBO Max app and Discovery plus separately (unless EE take that away from me). I will have to pay extra for the HBO entertainment and movies package.

@Matt_124 Yes, that's the package I have.

Ah thanks @Matt_124 - I wasn't aware of the mobile plan with the same name.

Yes @Craig1805 - as per the communications that have been sent out, the EE mobile plans will lose access to discovery+ and won't have access to entertainment in HBO Max.  It'll become a sport-only subscription.

Update: the discovery+ accounts for EE mobile customers will lose their entertainment subscription some time next week.

Thanks @DarrenDev and  @Matt124 for your responses.

Does that mean that I'm tied into my contact or could I leave penalty free as that's not what was advertised when I took out the plan?
