Remote with a sound bar

Can anyone help, please? We have a new setup (moved from BT) . The remote does everything fine on the box APART from volume which turns up the TV. We need the TV to stay mute as we use a sound bar. Currently using 3 remotes! Any pointers welcome…

Ok.

This has worked so, great, thank you. Had to (obviously) reset sound bar output to aux.

Have taken optic cable out now (obviously too) and reset tv speaker selection to tv speaker.

Only question I'll have to answer to each family member is "why does it say headphone every time the volume is adjusted?"

I suppose I should try Bluetooth connection at some point but this'll do for now.
