Remote issues

Davria

I have just switched to EETV.  Having set up the TV Pro box, the remote does not stay connected to my Hisense TV.  I have followed the instructions online to reset and re-pair the remote numerous times but it only seems to control the volume for a few minutes and it never turns the TV off.

i switched from Sky and their remote worked seamlessly with my TV and was a breeze to connect.  Can anyone help me further (but please don’t ask me to reset and re-pair, as per the online instructions as I have done this about 20 times)

Many thanks

Hi @Davria 😊

Welcome to the EE Community!

With the EE TV remote, for turning your main TV off you need to press and hold the EE button for a few seconds, as a short press won't work for this.

It's worth checking to make the remote and TV are in sync too; in a period where the remote is working, turn off your box with the EE TV remote, and then turn off the TV with its own dedicated remote.

Once you've done this, press and hold the EE button again and this should hopefully power on both.

Peter

Thank you for your reply Peter.

if I hold the EE button on the remote for about a second it just turns the EE pro box back on, and still doesn’t turn the TV off.  I have no trouble with my TV turning on when I turn on the EE pro box, it is just getting it to turn off.

When I control the volume, when it is working, it is not the normal TV volume graphic that comes up on the TV screen, so I wonder if the remote is doing anything on the TV at all.  After about 5 minutes the remote stops controlling the volume and I have to reset it again to get it working.

This is not good at all and I am thinking of cancelling the service as I am within the cooling off period, and I’ll head back to Sky.  I am reading some very poor reviews of the EE remote online

Thanks for checking that @Davria.

I have this service myself and have given it a test; when I press the button lightly it powers the EE TV box on or off.

If I instead hold the button, a Blue light appears on the box next to the EE Logo on the box, and if I wait until this turns off to let go, it will power the TV on or off.

This is identical regardless of if the box is on or off when I hold the button.

When it comes to volume adjustment, it is the TV's own graphic that comes up, so it does sound like this isn't pairing with your TV full stop.

We do advise that we can't guarantee all TV models will be compatible, but just to be 100% sure, is it Home and 9 you are holding until the Lights around the power button flash purple 3 times?

There's also an instruction of holding Home and 7, but this is only for pairing with the box.
