Poor picture quality on Channel 4 on demand

Is anyone else having similar problems? The picture quality watching programmes on Channel 4 on demand is terrible. It's nowhere near HD.

Live TV on channel 4 and recordings of channel 4 are fine, but on demand is rubbish!

Hi Darren,

Yep, I was bemused by the comment. I did make sure to point out that the
box is more than capable of giving 4K and HD...

Is there a contact email address at Youview we can send emails to? Surely
this isn't beyond the capability of them.

Thanks,

Tycow

@DarrenDev, I am sure it is you who previously told me on another thread that the best place for EETV issues is here with you and not with the contact centres.

Please hear us, this thread shows the frustrations of many. People are talking about walking due to this issue. Surely EE has more or a chance of sorting this out with Youview, EE and the channels than we do. Please can you escalate this to someone in EE who can help us fix this issue.

EE are seeking an experience that is advertised to include these apps. The whole experience is built on them working. EE need to get involved and help fix this for us.

Already on the case @Whittin1706 - I've asked if we're aware of the reason why they're not offering HD.  They're under no obligation to tell BT/EE - it's internal between them and YouView - but I'll let you know if I can get an answer.

And that in a nutshell is the problem with EE TV, they don’t actually control the OS of their core offering. 😞

You won't get any argument from me on that one @Profile closed, but trying to get all the content providers to work with us as a standalone provider is almost impossible.  Even EE TV on Apple TV was only possible for us because YouView own the design, and all the associated rights.

@DarrenDev

Couldn’t EETV buy YouView?

My one-man consultancy makes more profit than they do😛

Oh, there's so much I wish I could tell you @Midnight_Voice 😔

Nothing is ever as simple as it seems.

@DarrenDev

I might know a little more about it myself than I have let on, or can let on 😛

But I’m fairly certain there’s a strategy for getting hold of all YouView’s IP and still keeping the broadcasters onside.

Might mean playing a bit more hardball than BT would be comfortable with, though 😢

But even if it all went udders vertical, you now have Sky Stream as the escape route 😛

Yes, same problem with Channel 4 on Demand on my EE Pro box. Picture quality awful and looks more like SD rather than HD.  I note the Channel 4 app is v16.3.0 on the EE box.

I also have the Channel 4 on Demand app on my 8-yr old Panasonic Smart TV (the same tv connected to my EE Pro box) which is running v19.2.0 of the Channel 4 on Demand app. No issues with picture at all which looks like HD quality to me.

Clearly there might be different apps/versions for different platforms, but as the look and feel is the exactly the same on both Panasonic & EE Pro (unlike my own Apple TV box which behaves slightly different) I’m guessing the EE box may be running an older version for some reason which may not be helping.
