Why does my mini box for bedroom not recording programmes?

Simple reason is that there is no hard drive within it. Also it will not allow you to watch a programme recorded on your EETV Box Pro

The minibox will only allow you to watch a channel showing in the guide.

Whilst the mini boxes have no record function, if you spotted something of interest you’d like to watch later, or were turning in for the night half way through something you’d like to finish later, could you send a record command from the schedule in the EE TV app to the Pro box, which does record?

That assumes you have a Pro box and the app on a smart phone.

Because the EE TV offering is 1 main box that can record (EE TV Box Pro), with up to two non-recordable boxes (EE TV Box Mini), that can show live TV, apps and on demand content, but cannot record or access recordings made on another box (like Sky Q).

It isn’t helpful that EE ship the same remote that has a “record” button with both boxes, or that some sales staff say “it is just like Sky Q”, when it isn’t and never will be (which is the same for new Sky devices to be fair).

The expectation is that you do not need to record, you can just watch on demand, which you or I may not agree with, but the data shows that is what more and more viewers are doing sadly.

You can of course obtain another Pro Box from eBay or similar and swap it for the Mini, but there are various caveats which are covered in a number of similar threads, so I won’t go though them again here.

In addition to which, you will need to have previously paired the EETV app with the Box Pro, which requires you to be  in front of the Box Pro for the duration of the pairing process,

Good point. My Pro box was originally a BT issue but I must have set it up as a show is recording I requested via the app.

Thank you for that information,I have got the bt smart hub, then changed t
EE, and the mini box came from them as they gave me a good deal, so I
assume because changed to ee i have 2 different boxes.

Snap. Had my Pro box a few years. The light round the BT logo on it changed to the EE aqua a while back. I fully transitioned to EE last October and didn’t have a trouble free experience. They offered a Mini box then and to be fair we find it useful in the little non smart kitchen telly.

Did you sign up for the”Full Works” TV deal perhaps? That includes a free mini box to enable multiroom viewing.

The trick is to set the kids or other half up in a room with the mini box watching something live or on demand, while you watch your recordings on the main box 👍
