I am trying to hide the HDMI cable from the EE Box to the TV. I tried an extension cable but the HDMI signal wasn’t detected. Is there a specific cable I need to use?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Any decent HDMI cable should do, preferably shielded (as the one in the box is), but there is a maximum run length for a signal over HDMI, I think it is about 15 metres (50 feet in old money).
If you are well within this distance it could be a dodgy cable or perhaps the extender doesn’t support HDCP so the box and TV cannot do a secure handshake?
It could just be lose and need a firm shove somewhere to make a usable connection, or the box is set to output UHD and the cable is HD only (or vice versa, yet the box should automatically sort that).
