Full Works but can’t have a free Mini Box

Hello, new customer here. We’ve just taken out the Full Works package. We have a TV Box Pro downstairs and it’s all working just fine. I was expecting to get a Mini Box to use in our bedroom but that didn’t materialise so I rang customer services. I then got a bit baffled with science when I was told my broadband is with BT (despite my router having EE written on it and my WiFi coming up as EE xxxxxxx) and therefore I’ll have to pay an extra £10 per month to have a Mini Box. I left Sky after 12 years to try and reduce costs and finding the Full Works for £78 certainly achieved that, however, I don’t really want to see my costs with EE sneaking upwards already. Apparently I’ll be able to access most of what’s on offer thru various apps which I have installed on the TV upstairs but I would still prefer to have a Mini Box.  Anyone got any thoughts on this?

If you have EE TV billed through EE you get the mini box free of charge.

The only way that I know of to do this is migrate your broadband and TV to 'New EE' and then claim the free mini box to use on an additional TV.

You would need to call EE and ask to migrate your existing BT package including EE TV to the newer EE package.

I think the confusing element is that when you sign up via BT the TV package is EE TV rather than BT TV.

EE Apple TV box, EE mini box, Full Fibre 900, Sky Stream

The key is that you are still using a BT SH2. They are good and as remarked above quite compatible with the badge engineered EE smart hub router. It's the EE Smart hub plus ( or maybe pro as well, don't know about this) that seems to cause problems with DV. Of you tried as I did to use an EE smart hub plus then DV needs to be reconfigured at the server end. Maybe WiFi coverage would be better as it's WiFi not 5 but I couldn't handle them stress and reverted to the trusty BTSH2 work 4 black WiFi complete discs. These incidentally are incompatible with three EESHplus and you will need new ones from EE if you change to the EESHplus. It's all a bit of a mess

This is a right old pickle @BHA-Chris.

BT have been sending out EE branded kit for nearly 12 months now, so it is a lottery what you get, but most of it is interchangeable until you get a EE Smart Hub Plus upwards.

But you won’t get one of those until you move all of your services and billing to EE.

As I understand it, there are no termination fees for migrating from a BT contract to an EE one, as that is exactly what they want you to do, so I would be tempted to pop into a BT/EE store if possible and look to get that move officially done.

They should be able to help facilitate it and by doing so, you will be on the correct “Full Works” package to take a free mini box.

Oh and then, you will actually be an EE customer. Right now, you are still with BT.

Thanks @Profile closed much appreciated.. Can’t help wishing they’d just put me straight over to EE, I only changed to this a few days ago.
