Eurosport free for the Olympics?

I haven’t seen any news on this directly from EE, but it looks like Eurosport has been made available to subscribers who don’t take a sports package. Presumably for the Olympics?

The full collection of sub channels (minus 4K) have also been added, in both SD and HD.

I’m hoping this isn’t a mistake - a great move if true!

The way Eurosport is packaged with premium sport has always been a barrier for me. It’s bundled with general or standard packages on Sky and VM. 

My only way around this was going to be setting up a completely new D+ subscription just for the Olympics, which is messy!

Maybe EE could see that? It must have a fraction of the viewers on EE than elsewhere. Perhaps a consideration of making it available to a wider audience for the Olympics?

Not free @SwannyD2 - just included on all subscriptions.  discovery+ have decided that for the duration of the Olympics, they'll provide all 9 Eurosport channels to all subscribers (regardless of subscription type), in full HD.

The channels will be free to our Discovery+ basic customers until August 12th. Our Entertainment packages also include Discovery+.

Great news, thanks guys.

Might be worth mentioning that it’s just the linear channels through EE TV, not coverage within the Discovery+app. 

The “Basic” subscription through Discovery+ still shows an upgrade message for any Eurosport or Olympic content. 

Guessing that’s intentional?

discovery+ have confirmed to us that they will be boosting in the app too - they told us from July 22nd, but they may be running late.
