I don't want to be the kill joy here, but there is a truth to Sky Stream that is a harsh reality. Sky just released us from our contract early without penalty for failing to rectify it. Reason being, Sky stream has to be the worst, most glitchy, frustratingly painful, and unresponsive service available. The puck always crashed, or hangs. It pushes you to watch every app going except Sky. You have search for the TV stations buried within the mountain off rubbish. Then you click on what you want and it spends forever loading something like bbci  player. My family refused to use it, it was that bad. When going kids don't have the patience to use it you know it's rubbish. £50 month wasted. Avoid. Get Sky Q if you must have it.

I don't agree to be honest. I have had sky stream for 2 years and the TV guide is accessible from the top of the screen and the apps are further down.

It has its glitches but I've experienced 3 or 4 in two years and there have been updates to address most of these.

Sky Q is going in 5 years according to the latest information as the satellite sky uses is getting decommissioned in 2029.

I had an awful experience with it when I had it a couple of years ago, far too often it crashed or apps became unresponsive.

That said  I had no complaints about the picture or sound quality when it was working (it was fantastic).

When I was researching reasons why apps kept failing I found out that they aren’t installed on the device but actually hosted in the cloud so I think their services kept running into errors. I found that restarting the apps or force closing them when I’d finished resolved the issue but it was a boring task to do each time I wanted to watch something, when you are paying for a service you expect it to work but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Hopefully things have improved now though but I’m in no rush to give it another go.

It definitely has improved. If you get it when it first comes out there's always going to be teething issues

I absolutely agree. I had the Virgin Media Stream which is a very impressive box. I changed my broadband away from VM so had to give up their box. I tried Sky Stream and couldn't believe the difference. The Sky box was sluggish, very underpowered and pretty dreadful to use. It is a thoroughly nasty, glitchy box and Sky, given its status and wealth, could do an awful lot better. Avoid.

I had it for about 6 months before I had enough but I’m glad to hear it has improved!

There is still issues with Sky Stream, occasionally you will get a black screen "Please wait for the content to load"

Still no fix but a full power down reboot of the box will fix.
Updates? you never know if it's updating or been updated
Remote batteries, be prepared to replace even Duracell batteries every 4 months
No recording option, if your lucky and it's a popular channel you may be able to catch up on demand
Sound doesn't always line up with the image, from what I can see there's no option to change this in the settings

i was kind of forced into using Sky stream as they refused to put a dish on the house, apparently the existing aerial pole that's been upright for some 20 years may fall at any time and they simply refuse to install a dish onto PVC cladding, even though there's stell supports behind the cladding

When it works it's fine but it does have it's own issues

Hi I spent 4 hrs on the phone and internet Sunday trying to subscribe the worst experience ever after countless trys with sky and being told there was no such package I was told someone would get back to me within five mins (still waiting). I did the live chat with EE explained the situation was told it can be sorted put on hold after 30 mins I was cut off by now it was 16.00 hrs I presume they all went home. Yesterday I emailed EE still no reply.  I have tried again this morning twice to finish my order....after choosing what I want which is sky sports I just get a message saying we are unable to finalise this right now which is what I got countless times on Sunday.......I just want to be able to watch F1  all sky wanted to do was upsell stuff at one point they said it would be £69 ??  I am at the end of my tether and do not want to waste anymore time.

Hi there @Rubyred62.

Welcome to the EE Community.

Could you please let us know how far you've managed to make it with this order so far?

EE act as the agent for selling the Sky services, and when you choose the Stream box and contract, you should then receive an email to choose your specific subscriptions through Sky directly.
