EE Tv mini box

JoJoDancer

Hi,

Can anyone please help me.. I have just changed over from Tivo to EE.. I have managed to set up my broadband and main TV easily, but when I went to set up my mini box upstairs in my bedroom, it won't connect.. My TV upstairs does not have an ethernet connection, so I tried to it via Wifi... It started to upload, asking me to enter my email address etc, but then just stopped...  So, my TV does not have an ethernet connection and my Mini box does not have an aerial connection...  How can I make my mini box work upstairs, more that 5m away from the Hub...???

You will need to have ethernet network plugs that basically turns your house wiring into a network. They are available on amazon

EE do have smart WiFi plus devices to extend your signal, but I am not sure if that will have the desired effect. https://ee.co.uk/broadband/smart-wifi

Not sure if the BT WiFi extender discs would work either. They are available on amazon

To resolve the issue with setting up your EE TV Mini Box upstairs without an Ethernet connection, you can try the following steps:

1. **Use a Powerline Adapter:**
- A Powerline adapter can extend your internet connection through your home's electrical wiring. This way, you can connect your mini box to the internet via Ethernet without needing an Ethernet port on your TV.
- Plug one Powerline adapter into a power socket near your router and connect it to the router via an Ethernet cable.
- Plug the other Powerline adapter into a power socket near your TV and connect it to the mini box via an Ethernet cable.

2. **WiFi Extender or Mesh Network:**
- If your mini box struggles to connect to WiFi due to distance, consider using a WiFi extender or a mesh network system to improve WiFi coverage in your home.
- Place the extender halfway between your router and the upstairs room or set up a mesh network with nodes placed strategically around your home for better coverage.

3. **Check WiFi Signal Strength:**
- Ensure that the WiFi signal is strong enough in the upstairs room. You can use a mobile app like WiFi Analyzer to check signal strength and identify any weak spots.

4. **Factory Reset the Mini Box:**
- Sometimes, resetting the mini box to factory settings can help resolve connectivity issues.
- Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific mini box model.

5. **Ensure Correct WiFi Network and Password:**
- Double-check that you are connecting to the correct WiFi network and entering the correct password.

6. **Firmware Update:**
- Ensure that your mini box and router have the latest firmware updates. Check the manufacturer’s website for any available updates.

7. **Contact EE Support:**
- If none of the above solutions work, contact EE customer support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps and support based on your setup.

By following these steps, you should be able to establish a stable connection for your mini box upstairs.
