Hello

I'm wondering if I can use my own apple TV box 128gb i have rather than a EE supplied one.

Many thanks

Yes, you'll be able to use all the other apps on your Apple TV as normal.

I guess you chose the TV Box Pro as you need to record, rather than taking the Apple TV from EE?

If you're not using the EE provided router then you may have issues with watching live channels from the EE TV Box Pro - it depends on your router's support for IGMP.  Ironically, the Apple TV option works with any router without issue.

For content licensing reasons, the EE TV app on your own Apple TV will offer a severely reduced experience. The only TV channels you'll be able to watch are TNT Sports, the Asian pack, and Discovery - i.e. the same channels that are currently available in the mobile app.

Good afternoon & thanks for the response much appreciated.

That's a great shame as obviously apple TV box has better bitrate handling amongst other benefits.

I'm going live on the 23rd so just thought I'd ask although I assume I'll be able to use my own apple TV box with the relevant apps like now TV & discovery plus app?

Also Darren do I need to activate the EE equipment as I've my own AX73 router and  so on.

Many thanks

Well to be honest I'm not sure why I wasn't offered the apple TV box from EE as it wasn't mentioned but I'm thinking I've been mis-sold the full works package as the agent clearly said several times when I asked specifically about sky sports and movies in UHD that there available and looking through the service the only UHD is tnt sports so I'm stuck with to do as obviously the TV and internet doesn't officially go live until the 23rd but I'm thinking I'd be better off without the TV although & subscribe to the service via now TV and discovery plus as it's cheaper and it can include the UHD content I'm requiring.

So how do I go about removing the TV side of the order?

Many thanks

@roghere

You were mis-sold as none of Sky's stuff is UHD on NOW supplied via EE (nor never has been).

Hello RobMu69

Yes I thought this  I think I'll phone them about it as I've my own equipment and there's no real reason to pay EE for the TV as I can't subscribe to the apps myself for a fraction of the price and use my  Manhattan t4r for recording anyhow.

Thank you for the update much appreciated too.

Many thanks everyone

I got it sorted out & I decided to keep the broadband but I got the full works TV package removed from the account as it's not got the said UHD add on for the sky sports and movies sadly but all good as I've got it set up on now TV with some really good 12 month offers and 3 streams so it's working out much better for me but I'm very grateful for all the brilliant advice thank you to all.
