Is this on a TV Box Pro, Mini, or Apple TV?

Does it happen a specific time? e.g. an ad break, when you're watching something, or randomly at any time even when you're not watching video?

Tv box pro when adds comes on picture freezes  and on screen message return to app

I have this all the time on the five app on EE. When the adverts start it pixelates and crashes. 

Only an observation

I believe the 5 App is one of the apps that  in the privacy settings within the app it allows you to consent to store cookies so that more relevant 'target' advertising is presented.  Presumably if you haven't opted for this you would get standard adverts..  If you are experiencing  issues at the advert break I wonder whether changing to/from targeted ads would make any difference.

Exact same issue with EE TV box / C5. Asked the box to do an update. It did. No difference. Unplugged both the box & my WiFi router for a few mins & it seems to have done the trick. Doing both simultaneously seems to clear the "memory" or something  (but it doesn't clear "continue watching" etc)?? Well, it worked anyway...for now. 🙂

I've had confirmation that this has already been raised with YouView. I don't have any further details at this point.

This has been happening to me as well. Switched over to my smart TV and no issues. So,this seems to be specific to the EE box
