Apple TV+ box

I’ve bought a brand new Apple TV+ box from VERY (ie it didn’t come direct from EE). I set it up without any problems, including the EE app to watch my EE TV subscription. However, the EPG and programmes only include those on the Discovery+ service (when I actually subscribe to the full works package including SKY movies, Sky entertainment, TNT sport etc).

That is correct. For content licensing reasons, the full channel lineup is only available on Apple TV devices provided as part of an EE TV subscription.

There's no workaround or exceptions to this.

Only Apple TV boxes supplied direct from EETV will support the EETV services via the EPG.

They come with a different remote, and a registered serial number.

I take it you just got a VERY ordinary one?

Thanks for your reply, Darren. To be clear, are you saying that I should have purchased the Apple TV+ box from EE, to get all my subscribed channels? Why am I getting those from TNT sport and others? Thank you.

You cannot purchase an Apple TV box with the full channel lineup - one can be loaned to you as part of a subscription, which then needs to be returned at the end.

The channels you can see are the same channels that we have the rights to include in our mobile app service.

Thank you. I’ve misunderstood and spent £159 on a box that doesn’t meet my needs. I’ve ordered another EE mini box that costs £10pcm.

If you bought it from VERY on the web or by telephone, than you have fourteen days from the day of receipt to tell them you don’t want it, and another 14 to return it in. It doesn’t have to be faulty, and you don’t even have to give a reason, though it’s polite to.

As you got a Box Mini, I presume you already have a Box Pro? So you can’t have an Apple TV box from EETV besides that; they would let you swap, but then you’d lose the recording facility

However, do you really want to send the Apple TV back to VERY? The only EETV-related thing you can’t do on an ordinary Apple TV Box is use the EETV EPG. But everything you could access in that is available in apps on the Apple TV, and there’s lots of other stuff the Apple box will give you that the YouView boxes won’t, such as Disney.

To say nothing of apps than run better on the Apple TV box than on the YouView boxes, such as Apple TV itself.

I have a Box Pro and a Box Mini, and I’m still glad to have an ordinary Apple TV box in my armoury besides.

Thanks for your comments. I’m going to keep the Apple TV+ box for a rainy day. I’ll have 3 devices from EE, although I have to pay £10 per month extra, for one of them.

Same boat here. Bought my Apple TV separately, and whilst it let me instal the EE app from the App Store, live TV shows only Discovery onwards. I’d never tried it before.

I doubt I’ll buy any content from EE so might delete the app. The app isn’t on our TV and if I wanted the EE TV experience I’d use our Pro or Mini boxes anyway.

I appreciate the Apple puck might have additional capabilities, eg I stream Apple Music from it.
