4G wifi hub

Just been supplied with 4g mini hub. Supposed to wirelessly connect to everything.  However my ee tv pro box will not find it (finds old bt smart hub no problem) - any thoughts, tried various resets, reboots just won't have it .

Do any other, non-EETV, devices find it?

If it’s what I think it is, it only gets activated, remotely by EE, when your router connection goes down.

Hi, we are in this exact same boat. Did you manage to rectify it? @daustin62

Hi - no - we were sold a pup in that we cannot have a pro box with 4G Wifi.  All broadband services cancelled including all TV, TV boxes and routers.  So we have to get all services elsewhere.  Crazy that BT/EE/Openreach cannot provide a broadband service so provide the next best thing - but it doesnt count as providing a broadband service so everything gets cancelled.

A bit of joined up think required me thinks !!

Gosh how frustrating! Our 4G hub is just temporary until our full fibre is fitted, but that has already been pushed back from Saturday until Thursday. What is the point of them sending this temporary hub if I can’t connect the tv box to it?! Really frustrating as our sky contract ends today so we’ll be without either for almost a week.

So it’s not that the Pro Box won’t connect to it, it doesn’t even show up in the list of possible WiFi connections?

If you have another device in the house that uses WiFi, but isn’t from EETV, what happens if you try to set up a new WiFi connection on that - does the 4G mini hub appear?

If not, you need to go back to EETV for some setup advice - maybe by default it doesn’t broadcast an SSID, or some such?

To mimic your setup as far as I could, I set my phone, which is on EE cellular, to be a WiFi hotspot, and tried to connect my Box Pro. No trouble - it connected straight away. And became what I expected it to be, a device on the internet, but not on fibre EE broadband. Because EETV simply aren’t sending multicast out over their 4G network, and nor are they sending out the IP channels.

So all the apps on the Pro box worked, the menus still worked, TV over the aerial still worked, but none of the channels from 300-599 in the EPG worked.

I don’t immediately know why your experience, or the experience of anybody with the 4G mini hub, would be any different 😢

4G wifi didn't come up at all. All other non ee devices find WiFi no problem at all, tv, phone, firestick, printer etc.

Helodesk said not permitted option.

No longer have the box.
