Weird thing happened out of the blue yesterday. My tv screen, which is set to 1080p resolution, suddenly changed to about half the size as usual. Centered in the screen but tiny. Screen reverts back to full size if I set resolution to 720. Changing the screen size on the TV itself does nothing. Help please?

I’ve seen that, on the Channel Four app on a Roku Stick. It’s usually a one-off, and rights itself if you exit and renter the affected device, or even just the app.
But we need a bit more detail. What TV, make and model? What were you watching at the time, from what source?
If the source was an EE TV box, which one?

Ch4HD, Samsung TV (an older model), the EE minibox. I keep hoping it will fix itself but nothing yet.

Forgot to say I unplugged the box to reset it, no change.

I’m sure your Samsung has a model number. But I’m guessing UHD?
Try unplugging the TV from the mains for two minutes, and then reconnecting it.
My guess is that the TV is getting a 1080p picture from the box and displaying it on its UHD screen without upscaling it, which makes it a quarter of the size of the screen.
Meaning it’s the TV that wants the KUTA, not the box 😛

I'm sure the model number/name is somewhere on the back but I'm recovering from knee surgery and can't go through the shenanigans it takes to get to the back right now. Great time for the tv to act up! I bought the tv in 2011 so it's probably time to replace it. It was high-end at the time.
Anyway, tried unplugging, waiting, plugging back in, changing settings to both 1080i and 1080p. Same thing - mini screen. Very irritating!

Rats, I thought power cycling the TV was favourite….
But otherwise I’m still sailing blind here 😢
Please put yourself in my shoes, read what you have written above, tell me what I need to know to try to help you.
1. What TV, make and model? (We now know Samsung, 2011 probably. To save your knees, the model number should probably be an item in the System or Support menus, or some menu anyway, so you shouldn’t need more than pointing the remote to find it).
2. What were you watching at the time, from what source?
3. If the source was an EE TV box, which one?
4. If it wasn’t, what was it?

A long shot, but given the age of the TV has the remote got an ASPECT button on it? Try cycling through that

Ha, no such luck. It's new enough to have menus, etc, and a place to set screen size. I've been through every combination with the resolution set to 1080p or 1080i (no idea the difference is but I've always used 1080p). No go. Thanks tho.

Thought I'd answered those except for specific make/model of the tv, which I can't answer beyond it's an old Samsung. I had on CH4hd though the BT mini box.
