I just had what I think was scam call from 07418 374545 claiming to be EE and offering a 50% discount on my current bill. They wanted me to tell them my most recent bill amount. When I asked them for verification they were indeed EE, they managed to trigger a text message to me from EE which said:
"Hi from EE. Your PIN is XXXX. If you're not currently discussing your account with us, please call 0800 079 8586. Thanks."
I am concerned that this looks a lot like credible verification. How were they able to get EE to text me this message???

EE-CS sometimes use these OTPs as a means of verifying the caller.
If you are concerned that the caller wasn't from EE directly and was trying to gain unauthorised access to your account, I would recommend following the advice in the text message and contacting EE directly on 150.

Just had a call from 07418 374627 claiming to be EE. Said they could offer 50% off the bill.
They asked what last month payment amount was and email address.
An email was received with a passcode and within another minute a 2 factor authentication code sent. They asked for these details while staying on the line. Next thing I know get an email saying successfully changed EE ID login.
Immediately hung up and contacted EE and they said it isn’t them - yet the email address it came from looked like EE and even the text message number.
The cheek of the caller - when they couldn’t get through as called back a number of times - they called another number on the account.
EE will never call offering this type of deal and any deals are on their website.
They will never ask for the password details either.
Please be careful - it’s worrying that the vulnerable could easily be targeted.

Just got the same call from the same number today. Asked them to tell me the remaining length of my contract and they were unable to do so. Obviously a scam attempt.
At the end they told me to F**k off. Very unprofessional

I tried doing that Debbie but it didn’t like the mobile number that the scammers were calling from despite having no spaces in it 🤔
Will try again

Hi there
I've just had an call purporting to be from EE. They've actually call 4 times within 20 mins, each time from a different mobile number:
+447763501242
+447970284474
+447543128873
+447529912008
They offered a 40% reduction on Broadband and also tried to offer a new Samsung mobile contract for £30/mth - unlimited everything! They only have my name and address, no security details.
Tried to ring EE to check the authenticity but was told there over an hour wait to speak to someone. I'm sure this is a scam!
