Calls from similar number

Marleyforlan

Hi.. today I received a call from a very similar number to mine just a couple end digits off.. the guy said he was returning a call I just made to him (which I hadn't) and then I told him I had not called him and he said OK no worries bye.

Thinking this was an anomaly of some sort I went on with my day.. then when I was away from my phone around an hour later another different number very similar to mine I have a missed call from.. no message left.

I am not sure what the scam could be here..is someone else somehow using my number to call people?

Hi,

I used to be a customer of EE until last year when i switched but took my number with me.

I too have been receiving calls from numbers nearly identical to my own.

Your replies on here are disappointing. Can you please confirm there has been no security breach?

Hi @Kayleigh_7888,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

As mentioned earlier in the thread, unwanted marketing calls and number spoofing (where nuisance callers and criminals deliberately alter the caller ID) are problems that affect users of all mobile networks and aren't an indication of a data breach.

You can find out more about number spoofing on the Ofcom website.

This is happening to me also

Also happened to me a few times the last month.

Didn't answer. Had number for decades, use be on orange.

Very dodgy indeed all this and the fact so many effected I would expect an investigation from all networks.

So glad I found this thread! Had 3 calls in the last 24 hours all with numbers really similar to mine. The first time just the last 2 digits were different and it looked so strange, latest two the last 4 digits were different to mine but almost identical to each other. Weird!

I’ve been having the same issue for a few weeks now (3x today) different numbers each time similar to mine but a few digits off. I’m not even with EE but my phone number is a 10 year old orange number so clearly this is an EE issue.

This has happened twice to me this week - first 9 digits the same and first 8 digits the same.

called both back, one said never called me and was totally bemused, second was unobtainable. Obviously something going on some where and was a spooky experience,

Be nice if EE actually investigated, happy to help with dates and times and numbers  - please don’t suggest I change my number, that is totally unhelpful!

What are you doing to stop it ?

Sorry to hear that you've received some of these calls, @BivvyBasher.

You can find more information on this and what is being done to stop it on the Ofcom website.

Honestly EE, considering the amount of YOUR customers posting on this thread with their concern about this issue - do you think your responses are adequate?
