eSim switchover has deleted my SIM phone number and I can't connect to get code

Hi, I was sent a text from EE to say switch to ESIM from my inserted SIM for better 5G experience. I went through the motions of transferring my SIM to ESIM but it has closed down my existing SIM with phone number. Now I am only able to use my phone for emergency phone number and can't get any texts in with QR code or activation code to activate the ESIM. EE APP is ready to start ESIM but it needs to text a code but the phone has no sim so no text able to send. So basically my phone is not working other than for data. I have tried restarting the phone and I still have the same issue. This is a very disappointing switch and now wish I had waited to get a paper copy QR code. Anybody had a similar issue and how did you resolve? thanks, any info gladly appreciated.

@1stprize  Silly question but how does an eSIM which is a electronic sim give you a better experience than a physical sim for 5G ?

Are you 100% sure it was from EE ?

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

it is legit as I've got 'a ready to activate esim' sat in my ee app. Just can't get the  text for activation code as original sim has been deactivated. This is the text from ee that swayed me to change, wish I hadn't now....I need my phone for work as a community nurse especially to call in emergencies.

Hi @1stprize

I'm sorry the changeover hasn't went as smoothly as expected. Are you near an EE store? They will be able to activate a new SIM there and then for you as long as you can provide photo ID.
