When I joined ee I ported my number in - no problem at all whilst using my old Samsung S22 Ultra. This year I treated myself to a brand new Samsung S25 Ultra. Since setting my new phone up the temporary ee number shows in the sim section of settings. My proper number is shown to people I call or txt and I receive calls or txt on my proper number. The problems start when I try to use banking apps... part of the security feature of the app is to check the phone number and it flags problems saying I am using a number not registered with my bank. Whatsapp also questioned the number but has since seemed to settle down. The bank I hold my credit card with have also questioned the phone number discrepancy. Is there anything I can do to make my S25 Ultra forget this 'temporary' number? Would a replacement sim help?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi Chris
Quite accidentally, I seem to have sorted the problem!
I swapped my EE sim to an old iPhone 8+ that I just use as an iPod. The iPhone listed my phone no correctly with no mention of the temporary number anywhere. Then I swapped the sim back to my new S25 Ultra and after a few seconds it logged back onto EE. Now my number is listed correctly!
I've listed the 'solution' here in the hope that it may help someone else on here with a similar problem.

@mjh1234 Have you tried a network reset ?

Hi Chris
I've just done a mobile network reset then I've restarted my phone. The temp number is still listed in sim settings 😕

Hi @mjh1234 Great choice of phone there! The Samsung S25 Ultra.
Do you have dual sims in your phone at the moment?

Thanks for letting me know @mjh1234
Are you able to go into the contacts, then click on your name, then click on Edit and then update your phone no. When you've done that, hit save, then go to 'About phone' and check if the number has been updated, hopefully then it should show the correct number.

Hi Chris,
In contacts/my name there are 2 numbers listed.
One is 'This phone' which shows the temporary number...
The other is 'Mobile' which shows my correct number.
Unfortunately 'This phone' cannot be edited. The only number which can be edited is 'Mobile' which is already listed correctly.
