Stolen Number - Can I get it back?

Hi all, so the last few days have been concerning. Received a text from EE with a PAC code request and to basically say sorry I’m leaving EE. This was not me, was not authorised by me. Phoned EE as I was not sure if it was a legit text or not, turned out it was and my number had been transferred. Investigation currently open, these guys have tried to access my bank aswell but luckily enough security flagged it and they got nowhere. My phone is currently only good for Wi-Fi as my data, calls, messages do not work. Is there a chance I can get my old number back?

Thank you, I know it’s probably a difficult question to ask but how long do these things usually take to resolve? I need a working phone for work, etc
