Hello,
I've been trying for the last few days to unlock my ESim slot via the EE Web Page however each time I've tried it is saying an error has occurred at the EE side of the system.
I have tried the physical IMEI sim card number and it the website is accepting this and its working fine. Currently in Thailand therefore not viable to call the EE call centre. I've emailed the complaints department just to touch base with someone however gad no response so far.
As you can imagine this is very frustrating since I wasn't expecting to encounter this issue with the physical sim card slot already unlocked to any other network.
Any help/ guidance/ email address to get in touch with someone at EE would be hugely appreciated

Hi @JRD93,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
Phones purchased from EE are no longer network locked.

Hi James
Thanks for the reply. When I enter the IMEI number for the Esim via the EE website, a page briefly pops up saying that this sim is blocked. As soon as this page loads, it then reloads/ redirects me back to the previous page with above error code. Please see the attached photo for reference

Hi @JRD93,
Sorry, that may be a glitch with the unlocking tool. All devices sold directly by EE since December 2021 are unlocked.

Thanks for the reply @James_B
Moving on from this glitch, is there any advice you can provide to resolve this issue? I've tried researching in other areas of the Web and haven't come across anything similar.

Hi @JRD93,
What makes you think the eSIM is locked? Have you tried installing an eSIM from another provider?

Hi @James_B
Ive downloaded several Esims from the Airalo app. One for Qatar and one for Thailand. I've followed the instructions to the letter, downloaded the Esim however upon trying to activate the data, nothing is working.
It is showing the phone is receiving the local signal however its not allowing 3/4/5G signal to access. I've sent the App chatline a message however again I've not received any response.
The only thing I can assume is from message number 3 in this thread stating that the IMEI number for the ESim is blocked.

@JRD93 You don’t unlock eSims you unlock the physical Sim card slot with that IMEI number.
You also need to be a contract customer of EE to get an eSim you can not just download a eSim without being on contract first. That means you have an EE sim on contract already in your device you can then have that number migrated to the eSim.

Hi @Chris_B
Thanks for your reply. Yes, already an EE contract holder but downloading the Esims via a third party app.
For now, I shall leave it and once returned to the UK I will be head into the local store and seek further advice from there.
Thanks to yourself and @James_B for your efforts once again.
