Problem with transferring number

I ported my old number across when I joined EE and when I call people they see my old number - which is the one I want to keep. The problem is when I text people it shows up as the new temporary number that came with the SIM (not the number I want to use) ditto when I look at the phone about info: my number, that also shows the EE one despite several restarts. Can't understand it and don't know how to fix it

That rules out some of the foibles that Apple has!

The "about my phone" section is purely cosmetic, but if outgoing texts are showing the wrong number - there may be an issue with your SIM post port-in. Do texts to your ported-in number arrive OK?

You may need to contact EE CS to check everything is correctly updated on your account/SIM.

In the end I called EE C.S. on 150 who were really helpful, patient, clear and concise (and no, I don't work for them!).
The issue turned out to be with my phone settings - Pixel 6a, specifically the messages app used for texts and then the phone settings itself. A very helpful chap called Tom talked me through how to change this and everything is now correctly showing up as the old/correct number. Happy days and a big thank you to EE C.S.
