Porting length

Hi all,

I've just moved to EE and inserted my new SIM.  Had all the usual texts come through but it also says they will transfer my new number by 6pm 06/05.  This seems a long time.  Is this just a generic date or could it really take that long?

Hey @gunner81uk.

Welcome to the EE Community 😊

When you provide a PAC at the point of sale, this will automatically give you the latest available port date to prevent it moving over before you're ready.

Once your EE SIM first connects to our network though, this will bring that date forwards to the next eligible day.

This will usually be the next working day if requested before 5:30pm, or the working day after that if it's later in the evening.

Your new EE SIM will have a temporary number assigned when you first receive it. If a PAC was supplied as part of the order, that will be submitted when you first activate the new SIM onto EE's network.

A port-in date will be set then, usually the following working day. This assumes activation during normal working hours - if during the evening, add an extra working day to these timescales.
