Hi. My dad got ee sim to replace vodafone one. The vodafone account -65 still live and being direct debit as few months 2 go. After put ee sim card -72 with PAC code after few days all good with his old number -65 Then and this seems completely mad after few more days started get texts from him on the number of new sim card -72but when I phone it's -65 . I have never heard this b4. And have no idea how its even happening 🤔And have swapped SIM myself many times. Any ideas? I have him stored on my contacts with both numbers . There is only the ee SIM in his phone. He cannot get any texts to-65 number but can talk on it. Even seems mad to me as I am typing this

As he PAC'd his Voda no, *65. to EE this will cancel his Voda contract & he will have to pay exit fees to Voda.
The mix-up of nos. on the EE SIM means the port is not yet complete.

Can he not keep Vodafone account till runs out but use ee SIM in his phone. I worried about Vodafone bit cos they have been extremely difficult about everything. I am worried that if I cancel it they will manage to lose his main number-65 thanks

No, that's how porting by PAC works. It auto cancels the donor a/c. If he wanted to keep his Voda a/c he would just take out a new EE SIM but then he wouldn't be able to transfer his no. to EE.

A PAC serves two purposes simuiltaneously. 1: The number is ported from the donor network to the recipient network, 2: The contract or account (if PAYG) with the donor network is cancelled.
The two parts of the process are inextricably linked, you cannot have one without the other. Once a PAC has been given to the new network, then the current account with the current network is on borrowed time. If you are still within the minimum-term with your current network and don't want to incur early termination charges, don't give your PAC to a new network.

Ok. But what's weird is that i dad was getting and sending texts to -065 number after pak code was given when number changed from 72 to 65 then few days after that happened the text only come and go from 72 not 65 number though calls 2 this number go through to 65 and back to me fine.
Could this be still account/ sim problem or just cos not totally ported.

You have a short time to edit your posts, negating the need for multiple short replies - which do make it a tad confusing to follow your issue.
It's normal when porting, that not all services transfer at the same time on port-day, so you may have outgoing calls send the new caller-ID before incoming calls transfer, or text messages start routing correctly - for example. All should resolve by the end of the day, and if not - you should contact your new network.
If you cancel a number with the current network, the PAC ceases to be valid - a PAC can only be issued for a live line.
