Port incomplete after 6 days

Been having lots of communication with EE and O2.

I moved from 02 to EE and was only with 02 for 12 days. I left them as their service was awful, they gave me a PAC code which I used and promptly signed up with EE.

The port  to EE never happened. 3 days back EE told me it would take 72hours. But When I called today EE said the PAC code was wrong and TO contact O2.

O2 said it was because "You cancelled your contract soi theres no service a number won't port". I reminded them that yes I did and they indeed assured me the port would work with the PAC code. Anyway today, O2 brought my number back online and I had it again for 1 hour, they said that tomorrow they would text me with a new PAC code as they would need to cancel the one EE have and give a new one. Ok great I thought.

However around 4pm the sim with my number on it went dead - no service. I called O2 and they said that 's because EE have now ported the number. EE haven't they said the code did not work but O2 are claiming they no longer have the number and there's nothing they can do. I was on the phone with O2 for 3 hours today, EE maybe 1 hour.

EE have called me back each time they said they would and been helpful but I fear my number is completely lost O2's incompetence.. They still maintain its EE's fault "they have the number they must have ported in the time your service was reactivated." Yeah ok.

Very disappointing and literally nothing I can do or call. That number was very important as it was used for so many things. Such a stressful day.

Out of interest, what message greets you if you call the number?

Is it a voicemail facility, which would suggest the number is active somewhere? Or an error tone/message?

Hi, I just tried it rings for a couple of sessions then disconnects...

That's not typical behaviour for an EE phone that's switched off or otherwise unreachable - it would go directly to VM.

That you get an initial ringtone suggests to me the number is currently live on O2 (I believe VF also have a similar setup)

Thanks, I fear O2 have really screwed up here their system is saying the PAC code has successfully gone to competitor and are adamant EE have done the port. I know they haven't.

Update. O2 are adamant they no longer have the number and EE do.

There was a window yesterday of a few hours when my service was active with my number I want on the O2 SIM but then service cancelled. O2 are saying that in this window EE ported the number. But my EE SIM is this new number I have and don't want. I don't think EE would have in that window ported it as they didn't know to try! Unless it's automated. I'm speaking to EE later to feedback. Have also opened a case with Resolver.

The inconvenience of losing my number has bee ln unbelievable.

No idea where the number is now.

Thanks for coming back and keeping us posted @DaveHHH1

I understand this must be super frustrating, if you could please keep us posted after your call back that would be great.

Finger's crossed this is resolved soon for you.

Hi all fine now.

Spoke with EE who managed to now port the number quickly.

Lesson learnt that on moving providers don't let your current provider cancel your service and give you a PAC code as it won't work if service is down.

Thanks.
